ANIMALS - FYI: Snakes can open doors

Think that a snake can't follow you into the next room because you've shut the door? Think again. Julius, an albino Burmese python, figured out how to work her body onto door handles and get those suckers open.

Julius' owner, Jenner, explains that the snake made a bit of a habit of opening doors:

Bored of being in a dark room, she flips on the light, opens the door and bails.

This particular episode takes place at 1am. We were startled out of bed by a loud THWAP! Making sure there were no zombies, I put her back in the room, and set up the camera.

This is why we keep doors locked with her around. We don't need her harassing the neighbors.

You can also see Julius working a door from the inside, although this time she's frustrated by a lock:

Julius passed away in early 2012, but not before mastering round door knobs as well as levered handles. If there's a snake afterlife, here's hoping all its doors are unlocked.
