Earlier this year I reported that software developer is the best job for 2013, according to a study by CareerBuilder and Economic Modeling Specialists Intl. (EMSI). Since 2010, 70,872 software developer jobs have been added (7% growth)-and these professionals earn $90,530 a year, on average. The BLS expects a 30% increase in the number of software developers by 2020 (from 2010).
